Polls Indicate Harris Falling Behind Trump in Presidential Race

Recent polling suggests that Kamala Harris is losing ground to Donald Trump as the U.S. presidential election approaches, with less than a month remaining.

Three polls released on Sunday show that Harris’s lead has either diminished or completely disappeared as the election nears. According to the latest NBC News survey, both the Democratic and Republican nominees are tied at 48% ahead of the November 5 election, a shift from Harris’s five-point advantage in the same poll last month.

In an ABC News/Ipsos poll, Harris is ahead 50% to 48% among likely voters, down from a 52% to 46% lead recorded previously. The CBS News/YouGov poll shows a similar trend, with Harris at 51% compared to Trump’s 48%, down from a four-point lead in the previous month.

As of now, Harris holds a slim 1.4% lead in Real Clear Politics’ aggregation of major polls, a drop from 2.2% reported on Saturday. This tightening comes amid rising concerns among Democrats that Harris is struggling to gain support from key voter groups, particularly Hispanic and African American communities.

While she maintains a lead among women across racial groups, Harris has faced challenges in engaging male voters, including Black and Hispanic men, who have increasingly leaned towards Trump in recent elections.

In recent New York Times/Siena College polls, Harris secured the backing of 78% of Black voters and 56% of Hispanic voters—figures significantly lower than those received by previous Democratic candidates in 2016 and 2020.

Former President Barack Obama addressed the lack of enthusiasm among Black men for Harris during a campaign event in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, one of the critical battleground states. “You’re making all sorts of excuses, and I have a problem with that,” he said. “It makes me wonder if you’re not fully embracing the idea of having a woman as president.”

Both Harris and Trump concentrated their campaigning efforts on battleground states over the weekend. At a rally in Greenville, North Carolina, Harris criticized Trump for spreading misinformation about the government’s hurricane response. “This misinformation is detrimental, as it undermines trust and makes it harder for those in need to access life-saving information,” she stated.

In Prescott Valley, Arizona, Trump called for the recruitment of 10,000 additional Border Patrol agents, promising Congress would receive a proposal for a 10% pay raise for agents, along with a $10,000 retention and signing bonus.
