Kamala Harris Raises Over $12 Million in California as Pelosi Welcomes Her Back Home

Vice President Kamala Harris returned to her roots in the San Francisco Bay Area for a fundraiser that garnered over $12 million, marking the culmination of a tour through key swing states.

Approximately 700 attendees purchased tickets, with prices ranging from $3,300 to $500,000. Pelosi, in her remarks, praised Harris for her achievements and dedication, highlighting her “great strength” and “political astuteness.” She expressed pride in Harris, a former U.S. Senator and Attorney General from California, stating, “She makes us all proud. She brings us joy and hope.”

Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, have been rallying support across several swing states, drawing large crowds and building momentum for their campaign. Pelosi, a veteran lawmaker, played a pivotal role in guiding Joe Biden out of the presidential race following his lackluster debate performance against Donald Trump, which raised concerns within the Democratic Party about his ability to win a second term.

Harris noted the undeniable energy of her campaign, referencing the large crowds at their events. According to a campaign spokesperson, her campaign raised $36 million in the 24 hours following the announcement of Walz as her running mate and accumulated $310 million in July.

In addressing the challenges ahead, Harris highlighted the potential dangers of a Trump presidency, specifically mentioning the risk of a national abortion ban. She warned that even states like California could be affected. Harris condemned state laws lacking exceptions for rape and incest as “immoral,” reaffirming that the American people have consistently voted in favor of freedom when given the choice.
