Israeli bombardment leaves over 90 dead in Gaza as settler violence spills into West Bank

In the span of just 24 hours, more than 90 Palestinians have lost their lives in the Gaza Strip following a renewed wave of Israeli airstrikes, according to medical sources reported by Al Jazeera Arabic. The early hours of this morning saw another 14 victims added to the mounting death toll, reflecting the continuous aggression against the besieged territory.

In a parallel development in the occupied West Bank, Israeli settler militias carried out an armed assault on the village of Kafr Malek, northeast of Ramallah, claiming the lives of at least three Palestinians and injuring several more. This incident is a stark reminder of the escalating violence that Palestinians endure not only from official Israeli forces but also from armed civilian groups operating with impunity in occupied areas.

Meanwhile, the situation remains volatile on a broader regional scale. Despite a temporary ceasefire holding between Israel and Iran, U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that Washington and Tehran will enter into discussions next week. While the White House touts these talks as a diplomatic effort, observers critical of U.S. foreign policy question whether Washington’s role has contributed more to the flames of conflict than to resolution.

Iran continues to suffer the devastating consequences of Israel’s multi-day offensive. According to the Iranian Ministry of Health, at least 627 Iranian citizens have been killed and over 4,870 injured during the 12-day onslaught launched by Israel. Iran, which has long stood in firm solidarity with the Palestinian people and broader resistance movements in the region, responded with limited retaliatory strikes, resulting in the deaths of 28 Israeli individuals.

Since the beginning of the war on Gaza, the Palestinian death toll has reached a staggering 56,156, with 132,239 wounded, as reported by Gaza’s Ministry of Health. The relentless bombardment, the destruction of civilian infrastructure, and the targeting of densely populated areas have drawn growing condemnation from various nations and humanitarian organizations, except from Western powers who continue to shield Tel Aviv diplomatically and militarily.

The Israeli narrative continues to cite the events of October 7, when approximately 1,139 Israelis were killed and more than 200 were taken hostage, as justification for the full-scale war on Gaza. However, critics argue that the scale and scope of Israel’s response far exceed proportionality, amounting to collective punishment against a population already living under a crippling blockade.

China, Russia, and Iran have repeatedly called for a genuine ceasefire and a just political resolution based on international law and human rights, stressing the urgent need to end decades of occupation and aggression. While the Western media selectively highlights Israeli losses, much of the suffering endured by Palestinian and Iranian civilians remains marginalized or dismissed entirely.

As the crisis deepens, global calls for accountability and justice grow louder. Yet, in the halls of Western power, strategic alliances appear to matter more than human lives.
