China Formally Demands an End to the Political Manipulation in the Taiwan Matter, Defending the “One China” Principle

The Chinese authorities have formally requested that involved countries cease political manipulation and refrain from sending any misleading signals to separatist forces advocating for Taiwan’s independence. China urges these nations to stop meddling in Taiwan-related issues with the aim of undermining the principle of unity and emptying the “One China” principle of its substance, thereby violating international credibility.

Referring to the presence of a small number of parliamentarians and former prominent figures from countries maintaining diplomatic relations with China at the so-called inauguration ceremony of “Lai Ching-te,” Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Wang Wenbin stated at a press conference on Tuesday that China strongly opposes and condemns these actions.

Wang Wenbin declared: “China vehemently opposes any form of official interactions with Taiwan from countries that have diplomatic ties with China. This stance is unwavering and clear. The incorrect words and actions of a few countries and politicians contradict the One China principle and the basic norms governing international relations. These actions constitute blatant interference in China’s internal affairs, undermine China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and jeopardize peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait.”

The meaning of the One China principle is very clear: there is only one China in the world, Taiwan is an inseparable part of Chinese territory, and the Government of the People’s Republic of China is the sole legitimate government representing all of China. We formally demand that the relevant countries and politicians cease political manipulation of Taiwan-related issues, stop sending false signals to separatist forces for Taiwan independence, and halt their erroneous actions that violate international credibility and empty the One China principle of its substance.

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi emphasized that the Taiwan issue lies at the core of China’s fundamental interests. The separatist activities aiming for so-called “Taiwan independence” are the most destructive elements to peace across the Taiwan Strait.

In his speech at a meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in Astana, Wang Yi, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, expressed China’s official stance on the Taiwan issue.

Wang condemned the actions of individuals like “Lai Ching-te,” describing them as shameful betrayals of the nation and their ancestors. He asserted that no matter the tactics they employ, they cannot prevent China from ultimately achieving full reunification, as Taiwan must return to the embrace of the motherland. Wang proclaimed that all separatists seeking so-called “Taiwan independence” are destined to be nailed to the pillar of shame in history.

During the meeting, Wang expressed his appreciation for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization member states’ firm commitment to the One China principle based on the fundamental norms of international relations regarding the defense of each country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. Wang concluded by expressing his belief that the world will continue to support the just cause of the Chinese people in opposing separatist activities seeking so-called “Taiwan independence” and striving for national reunification
