Biden Urges Support for Harris to Protect Democracy in Optimistic Democratic Convention Speech

In a speech marked by reflection and optimism, President Joe Biden urged voters to support Kamala Harris in the upcoming election, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding democracy.
The address, delivered on the opening night of the Democratic National Convention, came just a month after Biden’s unexpected decision to with draw from the presidential race.
Biden, reflecting on his tenure, reminded Americans of the challenges faced during his presidency, including taking office shortly after the January 6 Capitol attack and amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
He expressed his belief in the continued possibility of progress and justice, asserting that democracy has prevailed and must now be protected.
Initially expected to accept his party’s nomination for a second term, Biden instead focused on endorsing Harris following his decision not to seekre-election.
