American intelligence agencies withheld information from Russia regarding the terrorist attack in “Crocus.”

According to American media outlets citing officials from European and American security agencies, the American intelligence agencies did not convey to their Russian counterparts all the information they had about the terrorist threat of an attack in the “Crocus” hall, fearing exposure of their sources.

An article in New York Times stated that “the hostile relations between Moscow and Washington prevented American officials from passing on more information than necessary about the terrorists’ plan, fearing that the Russian authorities would learn about their sources or intelligence methods.”

Russian Federal Security Service Director Alexander Bortnikov stated that Washington had provided information about preparations for a terrorist attack in Russia in early March, but it was of a general nature. He noted that such data coming from the United States was not specific.

Gunfire erupted on the evening of March 22 before the start of a music concert at the “Crocus City” hall in the suburbs of Moscow.

Russian President condemned the attack, calling it a “barbaric terrorist act,” promising punishment for all perpetrators, organizers, and clients of this crime.
