A New Culmination: the International Center for Strategic Studies’ participation in China’s New Media Platform Management Training Workshop

On Wednesday, May 29, 2024, a training workshop concluded for the benefit of 25 journalists from around the world in the Chinese capital, Beijing, dedicated to China’s experience in managing new media platforms and supervised by the Research and Training Institute affiliated with the National Radio and Television Administration of China.
The International Center for Security and Military Studies in Tunisia participated in the training, commending the progress made by the People’s Republic of China in both new and traditional media spheres.
The workshop highlighted that the number of online audiovisual users in rural areas of China reached 320 million, with a significantly higher growth rate than urban areas, underscoring the true success of the Chinese nation. China boasts 28 national industrial and visual complexes and over 16,000 institutions generating revenues of 321.6 billion yuan, mostly focused on promoting cultural diversity and fostering a shared future for humanity.
The workshop also delved into the principles of constructive journalism or peace journalism, in addition to emphasizing the importance of video as a news source in China.
Official visits were organized to the Radio and Television Administration in the Shanyang area and to tourist attractions such as the Temple of Heaven, a complex of imperial religious buildings located in the southeastern part of central Beijing. The Temple of Heaven was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1998 and described as a “masterpiece of architecture and landscape design.”
A visit to the Opera House in Shenyang, one of the most prominent discoveries, was made. It is the largest arts performance center in southern China and one of the top three theaters in the country alongside the National Center for the Performing Arts in Beijing and the Shanghai Grand Theatre. Various distinctive performances, sports, and theatrical shows in Chinese were showcased.
As part of the workshop, trainees visited the headquarters of the official Chinese television broadcaster CCTV, which is also a tourist attraction worldwide, in addition to visiting the Panda Park, a hallmark of the People’s Republic of China. A visit to a village in Shenyang was organized, known for its self-sufficiency in food security.
In conclusion, Mr. Liu, the director of the Research and Training Institute affiliated with the National Radio and Television Administration of China, emphasized the importance of such training workshops for exchanging experiences among journalists from Belt and Road countries and fostering collective cooperation with China in the field of media.
